So this weekend we kept ourselves busy with a little bit of fun. Marty was off to our lakehouse for "Big Boy Weekend" and we headed to the Tanginyika Wildlife Park. My cousin Andrea was staying with us this weekend as she was here from OKC working.
We were lucky that the weather was absolutely perfect for a trip to the park...cool temps, no wind, and cloudy skies. This meant the animals were out and enjoying the weather too.
First stop was the nursery....such cute little babies. This is a really new one.

The bearded dragon.
This is Ginger, her mom MaryAnne (on the left) Ginger's daddy Skipper also lives with them on this island.
Our favorite stop was the lemurs. They were very friendly and tended to crawl all over you. This is my cousin Andrea and her new little friends.
Blake even made a friend.
As well as Brett.
We also got to get up close and personal with some kangaroos.
And even though these aren't exactly exotic....you can't resist bunnies.
Brett and the turtles.
Brett got up close and personal with the camel.
The penguins were very friendly. We didn't get to pet them or anything but they liked to come right up to us. I asked the keeper why were they so friendly and she said most of them were hand raisied there so they are very used to humans.
Albino Alligator.
Gilbert the White Tiger. He had crystal blue eyes and brown stripes...very pretty animal.
The lorikeets were very colorful.
A young clouded leopard. He was cute sticking his tongue out at us.
The red panda gave us a wink and also stuck his tongue at us.
Henry the Rhino. We learned that he weighs 5000 lbs. and got to watch him being hand-fed.
All in all the trip to Tanginyika was worth it. They don't have as many as animals as the zoo but it's nice to be able to get up close and personal with so many of them.
After the zoo we grabbed some lunch and got home in time to regroup and head to El Dorado lake with our friends the Kimberly's. We did some tubing, knee boarding and a little swimming.
Here's Brett giving a wave from the knee board.
Big Blake, Brett and Clay on the tube.
My friend Amie accomplished her goal and got up on the knee board. YEAH!!!
My cousin Andrea, who not only tubed for the first time this weekend also got up on the knee board. WHOOHOO!!
So after some "peer pressure" from the boat I decided to try the knee board myself. And belive it or not but I too got up on the first try. Good thing as I don't think I would have had the strength to try more than once.
Little Blake did so good the whole day just hanging out on the boat while the rest of us tubed and knee boarded. We did stop and just swim off the boat so he could at least do that. Apparently it was enough as he fell asleep on the boat....while watching the rest of us. Here he is leaning against the backseat where he was watching somebody kneeboard and literally just fell asleep. The kid can and will fall asleep in the strangest places.
